     This is an example of an order of worship in which God calls His people to joyfully celebrate their salvation and to renew their covenant relationship with Him.  This order of worship is arranged to reflect a biblical way of seeking our Lord:
     THE LORD CALLS US INTO HIS PRESENCE
     THE LORD CLEANSES AND FORGIVES US
     THE LORD CONSECRATES US BY HIS WORD
     THE LORD COMMUNES WITH US AT HIS TABLE
     THE LORD COMMISSIONS AND BLESSES US: WE GO OUT TO SERVE OUR GOD

Pastor:  Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!
Congregation:  Worthy are you, our Lord and God to receive glory and honor and power, for you  created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.

We Respond in Worship of Him
     “Be Thou My Vision,” pg. 51

Salutation and Responsive Scriptures
Pastor: We have come to worship in the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit!
Congregation:  Amen!
            Sing and bless God’s name!                                              Psalm 96:2-3

Tell of his salvation from day to day!
            Declare his glory among the nations,
His wonderful works among all the peoples!

Prayer of Adoration

                                           THE LORD CLEANSES AND FORGIVES US

Prayer of Confession  (from Psalm 106)                            (kneeling, if able)
(first, silent confession)

Almighty God,
We confess that both we and our fathers have sinned against you.
     We have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness.
Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wondrous works;
     they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast  love,
          but rebelled by the Sea, at the Red Sea.
Yet you saved them for your name’s sake,
     that you might make known your mighty power.
You led them through the deep as through a desert, and saved them from the hand of the foe.
But our fathers soon forgot your works, and put you to the test in the wilderness.
     And we, like them, have forgotten you, our Savior,
          and the wondrous works that you have wrought in Jesus  Christ.
     We have murmured against you and have not obeyed your voice.
Have mercy upon us, O God, and remember your promises,
     made unto mankind through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Remember your covenant and save us, O Lord our God.
Forgive us for all our sins through your steadfast love,
     revealed in the death and resurrection of our Savior,
     that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise;
          for we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior.   Amen.
Pastor: Arise and hear the Good News…!  (Romans 10.10-11)
Pastor: Lift up your hearts!
Congregation: We lift them up to the Lord!
           Let us give thanks to the Lord our God!
                           It is proper and right to do so.

Pastor: Truly it is fitting and our greatest joy to give thanks to you at all times and in every place, O Lord, holy Father, almighty and everlasting God….
Therefore, with angels and archangels and all the company of heaven, and with the church on earth, we praise
and magnify your glorious Name, evermore praising you and singing . . .
Glory be to God the Father!
Glory be to God the Son!
Glory be to God the Spirit!
God Almighty, Three in One!
Glory, glory, while eternal ages run!

Glory, blessing, praise eternal!
Thus the choir of angels sings,
Honor, riches, power, dominion!
Thus its praise creation brings;
Glory, glory, glory to the King of Kings!         [pg.7]

We Continue in Praise to our Lord
     Psalm 96 A & B  “O Sing A New Song to the LORD,” pg. 4-5

                                               THE LORD CONSECRATES US BY HIS WORD

Prayer of Illumination
     After each reading of the Scriptures:
Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.
People: Thanks be to God!
     Old Testament Reading: Deuteronomy 32:1-47
     New Testament Reading: 2 Timothy 2
     Gospel Reading: Mark 1:21-28

We Confess The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and
         earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,
         begotten of his Father before all worlds: God of God,
         Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made;
                   being of one substance with the Father,
                            by whom all things were made:
         Who for us men and for our salvation came down from
                   heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the
                   virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate.
         He suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again
                   according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven,
                   and sits on the right hand of the Father.  And he shall
                   come again with glory  to judge both the living
                   and the dead whose kingdom shall have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, and Giver of Life,
         who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
         who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and
                   glorified;
         who spoke by the prophets.
And I believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
         I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
         And I look for the resurrection of the dead
         and the life of the world to come.  Amen!

Sermon Pastoral Prayer

We Respond by Offering Ourselves through Tithes & Offerings

Prayer of Dedication & Supplication                                     (at the Lord’s Prayer, raising your hands, if able)

                                              THE LORD COMMUNES WITH US AT HIS TABLE

Summary of the Scriptural Teaching of Communion
Words of Institution
(
As the bread and the cup are passed, please wait.  The people eat and drink expressing their unity in Christ.  We sing during the distribution to express our joy in the Lord for His grace and truth to us.)
     Partaking of the Bread: “Habakkuk 3,” pg. 56
     Partaking of the Cup: “A Mighty Fortress is our God,” pg. 77

Pastor: For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes...
           People of God, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
Congregation: And his mercy endures forever!

Prayer of Thanksgiving:
Heavenly Father, we offer you eternal praise and thanks
     that you have granted so great a benefit to us poor sinners,
          having drawn us into the Communion of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord,
               whom you have delivered to death for us,
               and whom you have given us as the meat and drink of eternal life.
Now grant us this other benefit:
     that you will never allow us to forget these things;
     but having them imprinted on our hearts,
          may we grow and increase daily in the faith which is at work in every good deed.
Thus may we order and pursue all our life to the exaltation of your glory and the edification of our neighbor,
     through the same Jesus Christ, your Son,
          who in the unity of the Holy Spirit lives and reigns with you,
               O God, forever.  Amen.

                                             THE LORD COMMISSIONS AND BLESSES US:
                                                    WE MARCH OUT TO SERVE OUR GOD
                                                                                                                                                       (
standing, if able)
Commission
Jesus said—“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
     Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
          baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
          teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”   Matthew 28:18-20

Benediction (Numbers 6:24-26)
Pastor: The Lord bless you and keep you;

     the Lord make His face shine upon you
           and be gracious to you;
     the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
Congregation:   Thanks be to God!

We Depart Joyfully, Praising Him: “The Song of Simeon,” pg. 78            (raising hands at the Gloria Patri, if able)
Dismissal  (1 Peter 5:6-11)
Pastor: Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God
     so that at the proper time he may exalt you,
casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
     Be sober-minded; be watchful.
Your adversary the devil prowls around  like a roaring lion, seeking
     someone to devour.
Resist him firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your

     brotherhood throughout the world.
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace,
     who has called you to his  eternal glory in Christ, will himself
restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
     To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Congregation:  Praise be to God!  Amen!
